Out of the Mouths of Babes
We were on the way to the drive-in theater tonight, and Ben, our three year old, decided to share with us some truths he learned in church today. The pastor has been doing a series during the children's sermon about things that he would pack to take with him to heaven so he would be prepared for anything. He had a backpack full of stuff. Ben was explaining that we wouldn't have to pack water because Jesus would give us living water. He said that we wouldn't need a hammer and saw to build a house in heaven because Jesus would build a house with lots of rooms for us. Then he said that we wouldn't need Kleenex in heaven because "God would wipe our tears." We won't need medicine because "we won't have sore throats in heaven." And last of all we wouldn't need a flashlight because God would give us light. I burst into tears after hearing all of God's truths coming out in a little boy voice.
After the drive-in, which we discovered that they are still a little young for, we got home, and Ben told us his first joke. He said "Mommy, why did 6 run away from 7? Because 7 ate 9! Get it 7 ate 9?!" Hand motions and all. It was the first joke he told correctly; it was cute.
